The Michael Wilk Gallery Paintings and Drawings of Cinematic and Personal Imagery |
According
to my sister Robin, my artistic pursuits began when I was a toddler, when
I drew a picture of faces on the wall above my crib. She said the faces
were “very realistic”. Of course, I don’t remember doing
this drawing, but I do remember drawing in my notebooks instead of doing
my schoolwork, which led to some problems with my teachers!
I attended the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan, and The School of Visual Arts, also in Manhattan, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. I was employed by the United States Postal Service where I worked in the art department for 23 years. I have had my artwork published in the Postal Service’s “Postal Life” calendar three times, and have won many awards in the “Chiller Theater” Convention’s art contests. If my work evokes an emotion, a memory, a smile, or even a chill or two, then I feel like I’ve accomplished something. |
